Review of 2011 – Favourite images of the year

For many people it’s kind of traditional to look back on the past year, for me it’s a great time to look back through all of the photography sessions of 2011 and pick out my favourite images. I tasked myself with picking my top 30 from everything I’ve done in 12 months….quite a tough challenge but I managed to narrow it down.

So (in the words of Dermot O’Leary) in no particular order here are my top 30 images of 2011.

Notley Abbey Wedding photography

Above: Emily and “Fred”s wedding at Notley Abbey was great fun especially when the best man revealed that he had unearthed photographic evidence of “Fred”s brief modelling career.

Boudoir photography

Boudoir photography is huge in the US and (probably thanks in no small part to Gok Wan) is a growing market in the UK. Here are a few favourites of mine from 2011. Head over to jcboudoir.co.uk if you’d like to see more.

Thanks go out to the ladies who have given their written permission to share these images with you.

Favourite wedding photographs…

As we approach the end of 2011 (where did the year go!?) I thought I’d pull together some of my favourite images from the last couple of  years and create a video that tells the story of a number of weddings simultaneously.

If you are thinking of getting married in 2012 and don’t have a wedding photographer yet I still have a few dates left and would love to talk to you about how I can tell the story of your biggest day. Get in touch with the studio on 01926 27 11 28 or drop us a line using the form below.

Wedding at Knebworth: Pink Velvet Shoes

I just had to share this image from a wedding venue at Knebworth last month. I’m not really a shoe kinda bloke but they really stood out as being pretty fab.

They’re from SoYouShoes (just in case you feel the need to go out & buy some!)

Bridal Fashion Shoot

I *LOVE* to photograph weddings, it’s the whole reason I became a full time professional photographer!

As a professional it’s important that someone’s wedding day is about capturing the essence and magic of the day, not experimenting and learning. So (I think) it is critical to have practice and learning time at other times. Earlier this summer I took part in a bridal fashion shoot with a great friend and photographer Damian Hall. We had lots of brides, dresses, flowers, table decorations and the run of ‘The Met’ in Leeds.

Here are some of my favourite images from the day.

Pre-Wedding Shoot: Charlotte & Michael

A couple of weekends ago I met up with the lovely Charlotte and Michael who recently booked me to photograph their wedding for them. Their booking was a little last minute and so unusually the pre wedding shoot was the only chance we got to get to spend together before the big day. We spent a few hours together getting to know one another so that I’m not a stranger on the day, we also went through the plan for the day so that I know where I need to be and when. That’s hungry work so we went for a leisurely bite to eat in the local, leaving just enough time for a quick pre-wedding shoot in the beautiful gardens of Wortley Hall.

I am really looking forward to the big day!
